Trading Agent Permissions: Budgets, Approvals and Stopping

Understand draft creation, activation permits, order approvals and what remains open when you pause an agent.

Four permissions that are easy to confuse

StepWhat it means
Create a draftSave a proposed configuration. No activation or funding is implied.
Fund and activateAuthorize the strategy through the app’s funding and signing flow.
Approve an orderAuthorize the particular app-signed request shown to you.
Pause an agentStop new positions; inspect existing exposure separately.

Review the scope

Check the permitted assets, action types, allocation, per-execution amount, cooldown, slippage settings and end condition where the chosen strategy exposes them. A cooldown limits frequency; a slippage limit controls acceptable execution movement. Neither guarantees a profitable or loss-limited result.

Availability differs across spot and perpetual workflows. The MCP perpetual Autopilot option is account-gated. Do not infer that a setting visible in an example is enabled for every account.

Understand app-signed and standing authorization

For MCP trading, perpetual orders require an app approval. Spot trading can use an auto-approval threshold configured by the user. An activated agent can act under its standing permission without asking again for each action within that scope.

Read the permission request itself. A button labelled connect, create or resume does not by itself describe the full authorization. Inspect your current settings before changing an existing strategy.

Stop the correct object

Pausing an agent, unfollowing a trader, cancelling a resting order and closing a position are different actions. After a change, inspect positions and pending orders. A Jupiter recurring plan continues on its own schedule until cancelled through the appropriate flow.

If a tool times out during an order request, preserve its approval identifier and check activity. Repeated submissions can create duplicate exposure. Keep a record of the action you intended and the transaction or execution result you received.
